In order to achieve its mission, MAM:

programs to targeted urban neighborhoods through strategic placement of
neighborhood youth centers

Memphis Grizzlies Athletic
Center (Alcy/Ball), MAM-Whitehaven (Whitehaven), MAM-Brinkley Heights (N.
Memphis), MAM- Olivet Fellowship (Parkway Village), MAM-Salvation Army (Parkway Village) & MAM-Sacred Heart (Midtown)
are current neighborhood centers
o
Over 500 youth per day
participate in MAM's after school recreation program; more than 5,900
individual youth visited the MAM centers in the last 12 months
Promotes sportsmanlike behavior of
players, coaches & fans by creating a nurturing environment
o
Expectations for conduct &
behavior always communicated; coaches trained to mentor players
Bridges geographic, cultural &
socio-economic differences by offering quality athletic programs to everyone
& scheduling play outside traditional neighborhoods
o
Over 8,000 youth, ages 6-18, involved in MAM organized sports; 59%
urban/41% non-urban participant mix
Empowers partners to attract more
participants to their activities by organizing & administering year round
athletic programs
o
57 urban churches, 9 urban schools & 61 non-urban
churches/schools partners who provide coaches that develop “1-on-1”
mentoring relationships with the youth
