Changing Lives
Memphis Athletic Ministries (MAM) anchors communities with 15 neighborhood youth centers across the city to engage and mentor at-risk youth. Through its after-school and summer programs, MAM addresses the unique needs of children in Memphis by providing well-trained, ministry minded staff, holistic programming and year-round access to basketball, soccer, flag football and golf for boys and girls ranging from 8 to 18 years of age.
MAM's model of ministering to the "whole person" has touched thousands of young people's lives over the years. In fact, the ministry's impact can be seen in the average attendance of 1,200 youths daily, including 1,100 who are currently involved in small mentoring groups. MAM partners with families, schools and community organizations to bridge geographic, cultural and socioeconomic divides to emphasize the common thread we all share.
By teaching three simple mantras of love God, love others and love self, MAM encourages spiritual growth, compassion and personal responsibility.
95% of parents surveyed see positive changes in their children
98% of our youth are recommending MAM to their peers.
