Volunteering with MAM
MAM's mission is to help build Godly youth in under-resourced neighborhoods to love God, love others and love self, thereby positively impacting their families and neighborhood.
If you support our mission and want to help make a difference in the lives of the youth we serve, we invite you to join our team of mentors.
Volunteering at MAM When you volunteer with MAM, we consider you a MENTOR and we view ANY time you spend with our students as potential “teaching moments”. Whether you are coaching a team, helping a student with his/her homework, or simply handing him/her a hot plate of food. you have the opportunity to touch the life of a young person in a positive way.
Individual Opportunities
Coach/Assistant Coach - coach or assist with a basketball, soccer, or flag-football team; assist the golf instructors
Team Fan - act as a “team mom/dad” for a MAM team (i.e. attend games, cheer for the kids, maybe even bring drinks or snacks - for many of our kids, you may be the only one supporting them in the stands)
Academic Assistant - assist MAM teachers with academic programs
General Services - help cook and/or serve a meal, help set up for an event, etc
Professional Services - donate your expert services (technology maintenance or repair, building maintenance or repair, lawn care/landscaping, marketing, administrative services, etc.)
One-On-One Mentoring - MAM does offer opportunities for volunteers to work with individual students one-on-one. However, MAM believes that pairing an adult volunteer with a MAM student should be a “natural process”. Volunteers begin by visiting a site and spending time with all the kids. After time, a student will naturally “choose” the volunteer and a one-on-one mentoring relationship will develop.
If you are interested in volunteering with MAM, please download the Volunteer Application, complete it, and return it to us via email, fax, or in person (see form for more details). If you have any questions about our volunteer program, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Speropoulos (volunteer@mamsports.org or 901.289.1089).
Group Opportunities
We welcome all groups - church, corporate, schools, etc. Some of the ways that groups can volunteer include general clean up, landscaping, painting, hosting a cookout, Vacation Bible School, or just playing with the kids after school. To arrange a group volunteer opportunity, please contact Vince Alfonso (valfonso@mamsports.org or 901.606.7332).
